The wondrous lemon grass

When we visited our Vietnamese friend in Azle last Saturday, She prepared a lemon grass juice. I'm curious about its taste so I sip a little bit. The taste was just ok. It tastes lemon and grass. Ha ha! :) If you do not know what lemon grass is, it is an herb that most Asians like Vietnamese, Thailand, Malaysia associate with their food to give some citrus and ginger flavor. It is also known as citronella, but only few people know that. I got more interested on this grass like green leaves when Loan, our Vietnamese friend explained that it has a lot of health benefits. The one that she mentioned was, it can be used as a remedy for fever and cold. That's awesome. Honestly, I did not like much the taste, but when I heard that it has a lot of health benefits. I took some leaves and boiled it at home. I searched more about this grass like green leaves -lemon grass or citronella as most commonly known and found a list of its health benefits. Here are some that I gathered, lemon grass is a good cleanser that helps to detoxify the Liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder and the digestive tract. It cuts down uric acid, cholesterol, excess fats and other toxins in the body while stimulating digestion, blood circulation, and lactation; it also alleviates indigestion and gastroenteritis. It is said that lemon grass also helps improve the skin by reducing acne and pimples and acts as a muscle and tissue toner. Also, it can reduce blood pressure. Thats amazing, isn't? To make a lemon grass juice, just make a concoction by boiling some lemon grass leaves, let it cool for a while and drink the liquid. I also learned that you can use lemon grass leaves as food flavoring, particulary in fish like Tinola ( a Filipino dish ). I will try that one time. Lemon grass is one of those wondrous herbs that has a lot of health benefits, Not to mention, it has also an antibacterial/anti fungal properties.

Getting a good education can keep us out of financial difficulties

In this fast paced highly technical world of ours a good education is almost essential for success. Yes some individuals are able to get by without it, but what are the chances that one of us will be that lucky. The chances are very slim to nil. So if we want to be able to care for ourselves and our families the best that we can then we need to get the education that we can. Whether it be online like Walden University or actually sitting at a desk and listening to a lecture or something else as long as it provides the knowledge that can get us to the top then it is good no mater what.

This goes for mothers as well. You never know what is going to happen to your spouse. He could become a vegetable because of illness or injury at work or even worse. Then where will you and family be if you can not provide for them. Up the creek without a paddle that is for sure. So take some time and get a good education now while you still have time. If nothing else just to set a good example for your l…

All in one park

Here in Dallas Fort Worth, where we live. There is a lot of amusement park entertainment you can visit to keep your children busy this summer.  As a mother of three active kids. I love to visit places where my kids can enjoy and learn new things. Since my kids love being outdoors, going to the different park is always in our top list.  In the summer, going to the waterpark is our past time. Just recently, we found a new park in our area, not too far from where we live.  The name of the park is Clayton W. Chandler Park which is located in Mansfield, TX.  My kids love this park because it has splash pad which runs from 10 am to 8pm in the summer for free! Their playground area has a mini obstacle which is great for kids ages 3-10. If you have a teenager who loves sports, they have 2 basketball half court, sand volleyball, tennis court, baseball field, skateboard plaza, 1/4 mile walking trail with fitness stations and a half-acre pond stocked for fishing. And most importantly their conc…
